LAKELAND | The world’s oldest profession became the focus of a four-day undercover investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The effort netted 44 arrests for prostitution and other charges.
The arrested men and women arrested ranged in age from 17 to 77 years old.
They face a variety of charges that include soliciting another for prostitution, deriving proceeds from prostitution, aiding and abetting prostitution, drug possession, disorderly conduct, and violation of probation.

“One of the most important things we do in the community is to ensure a safe, wholesome, quality of life,” Judd said. “With prostitution, we are not going to have people potentially spreading disease in our community.”
