New Port Richey Police raid massage parlor, make prostitution arrest

The New Port Richey Police Department got a tip a few weeks ago alleging prostitution and possible human trafficking at Miyako Spa. The workers are Asian and some, police heard, might be forced to work against their will.
An undercover officer entered the spa and was offered sex, said New Port Richey Police Chief James Steffens. Officers raided the spa Friday afternoon. Two workers were at the business during the time of the raid. One worker, Lian Jin Jin, 51, was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution. The other woman was being questioned.

The spa, which advertises on its window front that it helps relieve stress, had been in trouble with the law previously. Steffens said officers raided the business in 2007 and three women were arrested on prostitution charges and operating the massage business without a license.

Tampa Massage Parlors: Woman arrested at New Port Richey massage parlor

Friday, April 27th, 2012

NEW PORT RICHEY –
New Port Richey massage parlor is in hot water after a woman was arrested on charges ranging from prostitution to practicing massage without a license.
New Port Richey arrested a woman working at Miyako Spa at 4962 US 19. Police aren’t able to identify the woman at this time because she didn’t have a valid form of identification to show American citizenship.
Police made the arrest during an undercover sting sparked by community complaints.
Between 2007 and 2008, six women were arrested back at the spa on similar charges; ICE deported three of them.
Chief James Steffens says the community’s involvement to report unusual activity is what the department needs to crack down on the illegal activity.
The operation was a joint collaboration between New Port Richey Police, the Department of Health, Clearwater police and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Tampa Strip Clubs: AP Top News at 3:55 am EDT

Friday, April 27th, 2012

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Republican leaders are ready to push legislation holding down interest rates on federal loans to millions of college students. Friday’s expected vote is putting in a bind many Democrats who want to protect those students from higher costs. That’s because to cover the bill’s $5.9 billion price tag, Republicans would reduce a fund created by President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law, something many Democrats are reluctant to do.
Secret Service investigating another overseas trip
WASHINGTON (AP) – Expanding the prostitution investigation, the Secret Service acknowledged Thursday it is checking whether its employees hired strippers and prostitutes in advance of President Barack Obama’s visit last year to El Salvador. The disclosure came not long after the Homeland Security secretary assured skeptical senators that the recent prostitution scandal in Colombia appeared to be an isolated incident.

Tampa Escorts: St. Pete reconsiders cameras downtown

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

But Foster said the timing is right, and asked whether a huge welcoming party in August for the Republican National Convention is a motivating force, Foster said: “That helps.”
Ironically, his comments came immediately after a city council committee meeting that addressed other applications for security cameras. A clear majority of council members asked the St. Petersburg Police Department to prepare estimates for a system of portable cameras that could be placed outside neighborhood drug houses.
“When we have a hot spot, we put up the cameras,” councilman Karl Nurse explained. “The customers will stop coming, then the drug dealers will leave. Now you have an opportunity to recapture those blocks.”
Nurse introduced the concept for discussion in February, when the mayor said the idea was unaffordable.
Council members also want an estimate for a permanent camera system on 34th Street [U.S. 19] because of persistent prostitution issues.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Secret Service expands misconduct probe

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Secret Service is examining a new report of alleged misconduct by agents at an El Salvador strip club ahead of a trip there last year by President Barack Obama, a senior lawmaker said on Thursday.
Representative Peter King, a Republican who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, said in a statement to Reuters that the review is part of an extensive investigation the Secret Service is conducting in the aftermath of an incident involving prostitutes in Colombia.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters the agency also is looking into the El Salvador allegations, aired Thursday in a report by Seattle channel KIRO-TV, part of the CBS-Cox media group.
In the television interview, an anonymous U.S. contractor described visiting a club offering sexual favors with some Secret Service agents and U.S. military specialists in advance of Obama’s March, 2011, visit.

Secret Service Agents Reportedly Had Sex With Prostitutes In El Salvador In 2011

This new report comes as a dozen Secret Service agents and U.S. military personnel are being investigated for cavorting with prostitutes in Colombia. At least nine Secret Service agents have been let go over the incident and the Defense Department has suspended the security clearances of the military personnel being investigated.
As many as 20 prostitutes were involved with the group, officials say, and none are believed to be underage.
The incident broke into public view when one of the prostitutes argued with a Secret Service agent over her payment in a hallway of the Caribe hotel. Local law enforcement intervened on the prostitute’s behalf. Paid sex is legal in Cartagena, but violates codes of conduct for U.S. personnel who were working there.

Tampa Escorts: Bay area gang members arrested as part of national sting

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Those accused of re-entering the country after a previous deportation may be prosecuted in federal court.
Others had drugs in their possession when agents descended and could face state charges, officials said.
Some who are in the country illegally may simply be deported, said Ritchie Flores, a supervisor with Homeland Security Investigations.
“If we can remove them from this community and make it safer, then that’s what we’ll do,” said gang expert and Homeland Security Investigations agent Mike Fabyanic.
Though authorities are always looking for wanted criminals and gang members, they perform occasional round-ups to remind the criminals they can never relax, Fabyanic said.
“It’s bad for business for them if they know the cops are out there, looking for them,” he said.
Many of these transnational gang members are committing assaults, robberies and burglaries. They’re dealing drugs and promoting prostitution, he said.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Secret Service: Obama Calls Case ‘Little Distracting’ as 3 More Agents Fired

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

As the agency’s investigation into the prostitution scandal in Colombia continues, three more Secret Service employees are being forced out of the agency and two others have been cleared of serious misconduct, a Republican lawmaker said.

In another incident involving U.S. security forces and prostitutes, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Tuesday three Marines on a U.S. Embassy security team and one embassy staff member were punished for allegedly pushing a prostitute out of a car in Brasilia late last year after a dispute over payment.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Secret Service said on Friday that three more of its employees have resigned, bringing to six the number that have left the agency in connection with alleged misconduct involving prostitutes in Colombia last week before President Barack Obama’s trip there.
The Secret Service also said that a 12th employee had been implicated in the ongoing investigation into a night of partying on April 11-12 that embarrassed the United States and overshadowed Obama’s participation in the Summit of the Americas last weekend.
The agency’s statement said that one employee had been cleared of “serious misconduct” but would face administrative action – presumably something short of losing his job.
