Prosecutors don’t file charges in Largo strip club death
By Lorri Helfand, Times Staff Writer Posted: Oct 24, 2011 03:20 PM
LARGO — Nearly 10 months ago, Jayson Zalewski died after he was put in a choke hold and thrown to the ground outside a Largo strip club. The manager held him there for 5 to 7 minutes until he stopped breathing.
Now prosecutors have decided not to file charges in the case. An investigation by the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s Office found no proof that a crime was committed by Cecil Chapman, manager of the 24 Karat Gentleman’s Club at 16717 U.S. 19 N.
The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office deemed Zalewski’s death a homicide. An autopsy found that the 34-year-old died of asphyxia, a lack of oxygen. The cocaine and alcohol in his system also contributed to his death.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Palm Harbor Man Arrested After Strip Club Fight

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

A Palm Harbor man is charged with battery and assualt after a fight with his brother at a strip club in Holiday.
Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputies say Donald Bruce Seabrook and his brother got into a fight at the Bare Assets Gentlemen’s Club in Holiday late Thursday night and were asked by an employee to leave.
The arrest report says Seabrook approached the employee and said, “You wanna go?”
“Absolutely not,” the employee replied.
Seabrook then allegedly pushed and swung a closed fist on him.
The employee took Seabrook to the ground to control him after Seabrook swung several more times. Seabrook then threatened to get an AK-47 and come back. Two other employees witnessed the events.
The report goes on to say that when Seabrook was told of his charges, he called the arresting deputy names, told him he had top-dollar lawyers and more money than the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, and that he’d have him fired by Monday.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Passion, service define journey

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

But she didn’t stand a chance. Norma was a migrant farmworker child whose parents didn’t speak English. They were poor. Had no insurance. No Medicaid. She had fallen out of a pickup truck and was shipped from one hospital to another until it was too late to treat her internal injuries.
The accident changed more than just the lives of Norma’s family. It transformed that gentle Sunday school teacher into a passionate advocate for the Hispanic migrant workers of Tommytown.
Shortly after Norma’s death, Romo founded Farmworkers Self-Help, a group that provides immigration assistance, a free medical clinic, after-school programs for teens and even free loaves of bread.
Romo celebrates her 75th birthday this week in a community that bears her unmistakable imprint. She built its church, the Resurrection House. She turned a seedy lot, once populated by junkies and prostitutes, into a neighborhood park. She persuaded county commissioners to add a new name to Lock Street: Calle de Milagros, which means “Street of Miracles.”

Tampa Escorts: Demographic changes, economic challenges

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

A little before 12:30 Thursday afternoon, a woman in a brown skirt and print blouse walked along the east shoulder of U.S. 19 between Ranch Road and State Road 52. Her back to the traffic, she ambled in the same direction as the northbound motorists. With a cigarette sticking out of her mouth, she turned her head as vehicles passed by, trying to make eye contact with any interested driver.
She was peddling her wares, but only to customers named John.
It is a widely recognized dilemma of urbanized west Pasco. By all accounts, there are more women willing to walk the streets, trying to sell themselves in order to put food on the table or intoxicants into their central nervous systems. A Sheriff’s Office sting resulted in the arrests of eight women on prostitution charges last week, but there are no real changes in behavior, as indicated by the woman working the lunch crowd.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Chow brothers escape liquidation

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Property developers and brothel owners Chow Group have escaped liquidation over a $875,000 debt to engineering firm Clearwater Construction Ltd.
Wellington High Court judge Stephen Kos last week granted an adjournment so Michael and John Chow could pay up.
He made an order freezing funds in their lawyer’s trust account except for the amount owed to Clearwater.
The follow-up court hearing set down for today was vacated after the judge issued a minute yesterday dismissing the liquidation application.
Clearwater Construction’s attempt to appoint a liquidator was “at an end,” Chow Group counsel Justin Toebes confirmed to APNZ this afternoon.
Asked if that meant the company had paid the $875,000 owed he said: “I can’t tell you that.”

Last November Auckland City Council ordered the hotel building removed after it started to collapse during construction of a high-rise brothel.
