Police did not immediately release any additional information about the incident.
According to police, another incident occurred about 45 minutes later in the 700 block of Sheridan Avenue.  Police said that a woman was returning from walking her friend home when a man approached her and invited her to a party.  When she refused, police said that the man shoved and fondled her.
According to investigators, the woman then threw her keys and bit the man on the cheek before he ran away.
Police said that the man was described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall, with shaggy dark, brown hair and some facial hair. 
They said that they believed the assaults were not related.  They asked everyone to be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times, and use the university’s public safety escort service.

The Tampa mayor’s new ride is a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali that came from a police forfeiture lot. According to court documents, former owner Charles Melvin Fox, 37, allegedly used it to transport prostitutes all over Tampa and even out of state, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn did however make at least one modification to the vehicle: He removed the spinning rims.

Police: prostitution ring busted

TAMPA – Police have arrested a man they say was keeping women in a house against their will, forcing them into prostitution.
Charles Melvin Fox, 37, faces numerous prostitution and sex trafficking charges.
“The girls are all afraid for their lives,” said Tampa Police Spokesperson Andrea Davis. “There’s even issues with some of them coming forward to want to testify against him.”
Investigators say Fox kept the women at his home on Renellie Drive in South Tampa. Neighbor Billy Harrison lives two doors down and remembers noise and parties.

Fox is charged with robbery, sex trafficking, forcing women into prostitution, deriving support from prostitution, sexual battery and renting space for the purpose of prostitution. He is in jail being held without bond.

Louisvillians get arrested for stand on “carbon fuse” pipeline

Mark Steiner posed a question to me yesterday: How often to six Louisvillians anywhere get arrested, not involving alcohol, drugs, guns, prostitution or sports?  That alone is news, he argues with a wink.
Mark and six others from Louisville were among  55 US citizens who were arrested Monday at the White House, while calling on President Obama to do stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline,  which would run from Canada to Texas and build upon a current pipeline that imports the Canadian petroleum product.
It was the third day of action coordinated by Bill McKibben, environmental journalist, author turned activist who will be in Louisville for the Festival of Faiths Nov. 3 and Nov. 4, assuming he’s not in jail somewhere. Steiner tells me that there have been some 162 arrests with more “actions” planned Sept. 2.

Court records said he recruited women and posted their pictures on escort websites and drove them to calls at area hotels, often in the Denali.
Fox has not been convicted. He was arrested July 22, charged with five counts of sex trafficking and several other prostitution-related charges. He’s in jail without bond.

TAMPA — Mayor Bob Buckhorn wanted a big vehicle, something safe for transporting his children.
Turns out, he may be rolling in a pimpmobile.
The black 2005 GMC Yukon Denali came from a police forfeiture lot. That much has been known for months. But documents filed this week in Hillsborough Circuit Court allege that former owner Charles Melvin Fox, 37, used it to transport prostitutes all over Tampa and even out of state.
Tampa police have been investigating Fox since 2009, when a young woman’s mother reported that Fox forced the daughter into prostitution.
They seized the Denali in September and got the title in March.
When Buckhorn took office, he wanted a forfeited vehicle so the city wouldn’t have a car payment. He turned down a forfeited Lexus and BMW, police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.
