Tampa Escorts: Crime and punishment

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

… We realised that this great novel represented a global brand that could be leveraged to stunning effect in the design and positioning of the hotel.”
But how would they pitch to their, self-confessedly conservative, client the proposal that their hotel should be themed on the story of Rodion Raskolnikoff, who begins by murdering two women – one of them an old lady — and is finally saved from descending into a moral abyss (but not from prison) by Sophia “Sonya” Semenova, a good middle class girl who has been forced into prostitution to save her family from bankruptcy?
To use this apparently dark and negative plot as the basis for designing a hotel — let alone to name it after a prostitute — seemed to go against all the rules of marketing.

Tampa Escorts: As chief, Holloway cuts his own path

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Shelley Kuroghlian, president of the Clearwater Neighborhoods Coalition, agreed that Holloway has proved himself to be responsive to community needs. She applauded his decision to keep downtown Clearwater’s team of bicycle officers, which she credits with reducing drugs and prostitution that have long plagued the East Gateway area.
“This is a guy who knows the city,” she said. “I think he certainly has the respect of the people who work for him and he appears to be very fair, to me.”
During his nearly 22-year career in Clearwater, Holloway rose through the ranks to become the city’s first black police captain. He started as a patrol officer in 1986 and worked in Countryside and Clearwater Beach. He was assigned to fight drugs in North Greenwood, where he reportedly proved himself to be tough but fair, personable but unabashed about telling it like it is.

Over the past year, Holloway said, he has focused on four interconnected issues that can threaten city morale: burglaries, robberies, drugs and prostitution. Crime rates fell in each area, with an overall reduction in crime by 9 percent in 2010 compared to the previous year.

Tampa Escorts: Master of the bouzouki finds joy in the pain

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

They take group lessons from him on Sunday at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum. First they learn something about the instrument. The bouzouki, a distant cousin of the ancient lute, has a long neck and a half-watermelon-shaped bowl where the strings, usually in sets of three or four, are played with a pick. The bouzouki is more like a mandolin than a guitar, though not quite like a mandolin either. It’s tuned differently and looks different and sounds different, especially when Soffos plays the old music from the heart.
Of course he teaches his students something about rebetika, about how it came along in the early part of the 20th century, how it was often written and performed by poor and oppressed Greeks who sometimes lived far away from home or in the ghettos of larger cities. Rebetika songs could be about love and sex and work and play. Rebetika songs might tell stories about old people with graveyard coughs or young mothers mourning babies who died in infancy. Some were about prison life, encounters with prostitutes and relationships with bad men, mothers-in-law and swindlers, vamps and suckers. Sometimes the songs made you grin.

RIVERVIEW – Hank Furr once had a view from the top. In 1978, at 31 years old, he was Florida’s youngest bank president.
He was going places. The 1965 graduate of Jesuit High School, with two degrees from the University of Tampa, was on the fast track. He had the expensive toys, the six-figure income, the prestige of playing with big boys.
But beneath the surface was a restless, empty man. After his second marriage failed, he sought out prostitutes. One introduced him to crack cocaine. And just like that, he was an addict.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Purchasing Power Buckles Under Government Spending

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Well, I take umbrage at this, as this is one of those times when I am NOT making things up, but I admit that I still don’t know what I am talking about.
“But,” I say, springing to the attack, “if you are so damned smart, then what happens to the interest that the government is paying on the $2 trillion in government and agency debt that the Federal Reserve owns? Huh? Who? Huh? Who?”
I say this because, so the story goes, the Fed is not allowed, as a private bank, to profit from creating money, nor, I would say, from the ownership of the government bonds that it bought with money it created.
And so the Fed, every year, remits all the money it gets back to the Treasury, except for a few billion in fees, charges, expenses, overhead, commissions, bonuses, additions to the petty cash accounts, and (probably, under “miscellaneous expenses”) kegger parties with strippers.

Tampa Escorts: Homeless pair accused in strong arm robbery

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

According to police, the pair were on bicycles when they approached a man who was walking in the area of 16120 U.S. 19 N around 3 a.m.
Robinson and Ericks demanded money from the man, then took his wallet and cigarettes. The man said he did not see a weapon but, based on the encounter, he believed they had one, according to Largo police Lt. Edward Sohoski.
Police found them nearby and arrested them without incident.
Robinson was released from prison in October after serving seven months of a one-year sentence for a conviction of robbery by sudden snatching in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
Ericks, whose last name is spelled as Eriks in Hillsborough Court records, has served three stints in prison on convictions of prostitution, sale and possession of cocaine and robbery by sudden snatching.
