Tampa Escorts: Work seeps into personal life for sex crimes prosecutor Rita Peters

Monday, November 29th, 2010

A little girl from a pornographic video won’t go away. Peters tries to sleep and hears her screaming. The little girl, a toddler, wore pigtails. Peters has her own little girl and can’t style her hair that way anymore.
“I’m not good at shutting it off at all,” she said. “But I don’t think I’d be the same kind of prosecutor if I could shut it off.”
Instead, she weeps over case files in the privacy of her office and after every verdict in court.
She lets children hold her prosecutor’s badge on the witness stand, for courage.
She proposed to a 5-year-old boy, a rape victim who worried no one would ever want to marry him.
She embraced a prostitute after a jury agreed the woman had been sexually battered.

Tampa Escorts: Teacher arrested in undercover prostitution sting

Monday, November 29th, 2010

50-year-old Richard Kemper of Lithia was arrested during the sting. He’s a teacher in Hillsborough County. Polk County investigators say he offered an undercover detective $150 in exchange for sex. Detectives, in the reverse prostitution sting, arrested 13 people in the undercover operation.
Sheriff Grady Judd says, “Look at the people we caught. Electricians and carpenters that you trust in your home, with your family, a school teacher who teaches your children. It shows what can happen given the right atmosphere.”
Here’s a list of the other people arrested during the sting, according to the sheriff’s office:

Sheriff Grady Judd says “Let it be perfectly clear, people are not going to come into our community and engage in prostitution – creating the real possibility of spreading communicable diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis to unsuspecting partners and family members.”

Tampa Escorts: Lakeland Construction Workers Travel to Honduras to Aid Children

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

That’s one thing he loved about going to Honduras for a week to help. He also wanted his family and employees to experience what it’s like in another country where comforts aren’t so easy to come by.
For Langley, he said he didn’t know what to think when Fields approached him about going to Honduras. Then he got excited about helping.
“It makes you look at life differently when you come back,” Langley said.
Fields said he may return to Honduras next year to do more work on the school.
Womack said there are still some things left to do: painting, electrical work, ceilings, replacing doors, and renovating bathrooms.
Both David and Danica Fields said in the future they would like to possibly buy some property for displaced children and help aid in the fight to keep young girls out of prostitution.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Pinellas deputy shoots SUV driver on Fourth Street N in St. Petersburg

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

French was transported to Bayfront Medical Center and was in stable condition Friday night.
A check of state records shows French’s license was canceled in June after several suspensions. His complete driving record was unavailable on Friday, but Pinellas County records show he has had several traffic infractions, including leaving the scene of an accident with damage, reckless driving, driving under the influence, speeding and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
French made headlines in 2007 when he ran over a Largo man after an altercation outside a Tampa bar.
Police said French was driving his friend Justin Moseley’s Lexus SUV shortly after 3 a.m. July 11, 2007, when he ran over Frederick “Buck” Williams, 22, in front of Tampa’s 2001 Odyssey strip club on N Dale Mabry Highway.

Tampa Strip Clubs: NFL lockout could mean $5 billion job loss

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

Buccaneers center and NFLPA representative Jeff Faine says it is a big deal and he hopes they can work it out. The Players Association is sending letters to mayors and governors in NFL states and cities saying, “During one of the worst economic times since the Great Depression, the NFL owners are preparing to cancel the 2011 season and that could lead to $160 million in lost jobs in each NFL city.”
Faine says there are trainers, equipment managers, ticket sellers and janitors who won’t have jobs.
Clearly those who work for the Buccaneers and are associated with the football team would feel the economic impact, but Faine says the impact goes far beyond that and many more would feel the pain if there is no football next year.
Lou Hunter, who details cars for Buccaneer players outside One Buc Place, says it will affect everyone in his company. “If there aren’t players at the practice facility, there won’t be any work,” he explains.
A lockout would affect those around the stadium, from bars to strip clubs to those who live in the neighborhoods nearby.

Tampa Escorts: Bay-area HIV workers encouraged by Pope Benedict’s condom comments

Friday, November 26th, 2010

TAMPA, Florida — With Tampa Bay having the 18th highest rate of HIV in the nation and Florida ranking second in AIDS cases, any change in policy regarding the spread of the disease is important.
This week the Roman Catholic church signaled a change that some call monumental.
“I think that’s a huge shift. Definitely a huge shift for prevention,” says Lorraine Langlois, who heads the Metro Wellness Communities Center in Tampa, which assists people living with HIV in the Bay area.
In an interview regarding the use of condoms — long condemned by the church — Pope Benedict XVI said using them specifically to prevent the spread of AIDS might be acceptable. The Pope had been asked a specific question about male prostitutes in Africa, knowingly spreading the disease by not using condoms.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Citizen input sought for East Gateway makeover

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Clearwater, Florida — As part of a planned revitalization effort for the East Gateway neighborhood, the city is asking for design suggestions for an East Gateway logo.
The logo would be the first step in a visioning process for the area that is supposed to begin early next year.
“Artists and designers, visionaries and citizens are encouraged to submit their design ideas, color and/or typeface suggestions and sketches of elements that might be considered. Input should be received no later than Friday, Dec. 17,” the city said in a media release.
The East Gateway neighborhood is just east of downtown, bordered by Drew Street, Highland Avenue, Missouri Avenue and Court Street. It’s one of the main entryways to downtown and the Cleveland Street district.
In recent years, much of the neighborhood has fallen in disrepair and has been a focus of police enforcements against prostitution and drug activity.
