Tampa Escorts: Tampa took an early sip of Prohibition’s medicine

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

World War I sounded the death knell for the American beer and liquor industries. Symbols of Hun militarism, out-of-control immigration, and the unchecked influence of the Roman Catholic Church, the German beer garden, Irish saloon and Italian organ grinder became targets of zealous reformers who wished to purge liquor from American life.
Hillsborough County became a battleground for “wet” and “dry” factions, the latter being led by ministers and housewives who decried the corrupting effects of drunken soldiers, sinister saloonkeepers, and Latin residents disobeying Sunday blue laws.
In 1886, a Women’s Christian Temperance Union chapter formed in Tampa. Other women’s volunteer groups championed the cause. The Anti-Saloon League preached a simple message: Reward virtuous politicians and punish the wicked.
Women pointed to a roster of villains and victims: sack-clothed children, blue-collar factory workers who squandered their pay at the corner bar, battered and bruised homemakers, prostitutes who preyed upon besotted customers, and rosy-cheeked politicians and libertine priests.

Tampa Escorts: rape suspect disputes police account

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Police said the woman’s medical condition has not caused bruising in the past. They declined to name the condition.
Harris has his own theory for why charges would be filed against him in Tampa: He says Volusia County officials have a vendetta against him. He previously faced multiple charges there, including grand theft, for which he spent three years in prison.
He speculates that Volusia officials are bitter that he was acquitted of the 1999 rape charge.
Harris said his troubles started back in police academy days.
Lake County records show he withdrew from the Lake Tech Institute of Public Safety in 1998 for “other reasons.”
But Harris said he wasn’t allowed to graduate because he was a “whistle-blower.” He claims to have exposed that law enforcement officials had sex with prostitutes before arresting them.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Look, Mom’s pole dancing!

Monday, August 30th, 2010

… You need serious strength and serious leg capability to pole dance,” Claussen said. “A lot of people think it’s silly, like men, with one, after seeing our gear at the airport, telling us, ‘Ya’ll are just letting it hang out.’ Well, not really â we’re just working out.”
There is a stigma associated with pole dancing, Soldano said. Those who’ve never done it â and men â think these women are working to get singles thrown at them.
Actually, it’s just a workout.
“It’s hard for me to understand how men can think that way or not like their wife or girlfriend doing it,” Soldano said. “Then again, I’m not even sure why women care what opinions are. They’ll be like, ‘Oh, so you want to be a stripper?’ No, because it’s not about them â it’s about me and my body. It makes me happy and something for me to do for myself.

… You need serious strength and serious leg capability to pole dance,” Claussen said. “A lot of people think it’s silly, like men, with one, after seeing our gear at the airport, telling us, ‘Ya’ll are just letting it hang out.’ Well, not really – we’re just working out.”
There is a stigma associated with pole dancing, Soldano said. Those who’ve never done it – and men – think these women are working to get singles thrown at them.
Actually, it’s just a workout.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Sports and Entertainment: Tampa’s Great Divide

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

A word to all the returning students: I’m afraid I have terrible news. First, The 7 Seas is officially closed forever. Yes, the strip club that no one (would admit they) had been to is finally gone.
The strip club that looked like it was run on a public bathroom off the Jersey Shore boardwalk will forever stand as a memorial to mediocrity.
This was the kind of place where you almost wanted to pay the women to put their clothes back on. If you ever wanted to see a woman in her third trimester stripping (not that anybody ever would) you’ve missed your chance.
Now if you want to go to a strip club, you’ll be forced to go at least two blocks further down the road to visit one of the other 15 or more clubs within the two mile radius.

So whether it’s going to bars or clubs, watching failing teams or (in the very sad situation) going to strip clubs, Tampa is a city anyone can enjoy.

Tampa Escorts: Rape victim was working as escort, Clearwater police say

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

… At this point they have established that they do believe she is a victim, and they are working to identify the suspect,” Watts said.
But police want to get the word out that the crime does not appear to be a random act, Watts said.
On Monday, a day before the school year started in Pinellas County, police said they would have an increased presence near the school for an undetermined length of time as they investigated the incident.
The 31-year-old woman told investigators that she was near the school around 3:30 a.m. looking for a friend’s house when a man approached her and threatened her, then took her to a parking lot at the school and sexually battered her, police said.
Afterward, the man stole the woman’s purse and ran off, police said.
Since then, detectives learned the woman had escort service ads on at least two websites.

Police: Attack victim agreed to meet suspect near school

CLEARWATER – Police say an attack on a woman near an elementary school earlier this week was not random.
The woman, who told officers a man sexually battered and robbed her in the parking lot at Plumb Elementary School early Monday morning, had placed an escort service ad on at least two websites and had made arrangements to meet a man across the street from the school, according to detectives.
It is not known why the two moved on to the school’s property, where the woman told detectives the attack had occurred.
Monday, police described the suspect as a 17 or 18 year old black male about 5 foot 6 inches tall. They said he weighed around 170 pounds and was last seen wearing black shorts, black Nikes, and a purple and orange jersey and ball cap.
