Tampa Strip Clubs: Chris Golightly Joins Long List Of DQ’d ‘American Idol’ Contestants

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

But a questionable past doesn’t mean automatic elimination from the show. Season one’s Nikki McKibbin was not DQ’d for working as a stripper before joining the show, and in season two, singer Trenyce fessed up to producers about a felony theft charge on her record and was allowed to continue singing. Season-seven 12th-place finisher David Hernandez go-go danced at a gay bar in Phoenix, Arizona, called Dick’s Cabaret and though producers didn’t seem to mind, he was voted off just as that fact surfaced. Season four’s Scott Savol stayed on the show even after news emerged about a past domestic violence arrest. Bo Bice told producers about his past arrests for felony cocaine possession in 2001 and marijuana possession in 2003, and he almost made it to the finish line in season four.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Stripper Mobile Takes Show on the Road to Tampa

Stripper Mobile Takes Show on the Road to Tampa

The roaming stripper vehicle, which rode down to Miami for Super Bowl weekend and is now back in Tampa Bay, is under the watchful eye of the Tampa Police Dept. to see whether it violates any laws.
“Our attorney is looking at the way (the dancers are) dressed and obviously some of the gestures that they are doing (to see) if that is a violation of some sort of city ordinance or state law,” Tampa Police spokeswoman Andrea Davis told 10Connects in Tampa. But she also told the CBS affiliate that so far it doesn’t appear the “Stripper Mobile” has violated any laws.
The stripper vehicle, with plexiglas sides and a stripper pole inside, roams the streets while the strippers dance.  By design, the dancers are not wearing seatbelts.  The police department says it does not appear that not being buckled is a violation.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Heinrich was more than family

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Let me throw in a few words about Espinosa, who was a professional comedian in Florida and Cuba, and is the funniest man I have met. Among a hundred other careers, he was my fencing coach in high school. He is an emcee at all sorts of events. He has been a janitor, assistant county administrator and author of the delightful “Cuban Bread Crumbs.”
For more than a dozen years, Espinosa was the public information officer for the sheriff’s office. “When Walt hired me,” Espinosa says, “he said the most important thing was to be a straight shooter and to hold nothing back from the press, even if it was damaging to his department. He meant it.
“You know, here was a guy you didn’t want to mess with. I remember I was working a place called the Club 22 in the old Tampa Bay Hotel. It was a strip club. Anyhow, this was in the early ’50s, and they had booked Cab Calloway to come in and do a show.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Stripper Mobile apparently legal

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Tampa, Florida – The “Stripper Mobile” is designed to get attention, and now it’s caught the eye of the police. Andrea Davis with the Tampa Police Department tells 10 Connects they’re taking a look at the controversial vehicle to make sure it doesn’t violate any laws.

You can watch 10 Connects’ original story on the “Stripper Mobile” by clicking here.
The “Stripper Mobile” is owned by Déjà Vu, a gentlemen’s club located on East Adamo Drive.  The vehicle with Plexiglas sides and a stripper pole inside arrived in Tampa after it was banned in Las Vegas.

One thing police are concerned about is gawkers. Davis said officials worry the “Stripper Mobile” will distract other drivers. “We’d hope the business would be a little bit more responsible and know that this could create some type of hazard that would create an accident,” Davis said.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Sheriff Heinrich: A cop’s cop

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

For more than a dozen years he was the public information officer for the sheriff’s office. He was the guy standing out in front of the yellow tape at crime scenes, dealing with the media. “When Walt hired me he said the most important thing was to be a straight shooter and to hold nothing back from the press, even if it was damaging to his department. He meant it.”
“You know, here was a guy you didn’t want to mess with. I remember I was working a place called the Club 22 in the old Tampa Bay Hotel. It was a strip club [I know you are beginning to wonder just how many of these places Espinosa worked]. Anyhow this was in the early ’50s and they had booked Cab Calloway to come in and do a show.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Florida: Clear-paneled strippermobile rolls into Tampa (watch video)

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Déjà Vu, a gentlemen’s club located on East Adamo Drive, has started driving what it calls the “Stripper Mobile” around town. The “Stripper Mobile” is a large truck with Plexiglas sides featuring a stripper pole and dancers inside, sort of like a peep show on wheels.
Reaction so far, according to Déjà Vu dancer Bree, has been crazy.

The “Stripper Mobile” was originally driven in Las Vegas until local leaders there put the brakes on the vehicle last November. The owners eventually sent it to Tampa, where Déjà Vu’s general manager says they’re taking it out on Friday and Saturday nights between 10 P.M. and 2 A.M. in places like Ybor, Channelside and South Howard Ave.

Of course the goal of the “Stripper Mobile” according to Bree, is to attract customers to the Déjà Vu.

Stripper bus debuts — but sorry, no passengers allowed> Posted by Barbara Hijek on February 16, 2010 07:30 AM
Déjà Vu, a Tampa gentlemen’s club, has started driving what it calls the “Stripper Mobile” around town — it’s a large truck with Plexiglas sides featuring a stripper pole and dancers inside, sort of like a peep show on wheels, reports Tampa Bay’s 10Connects.com.
Déjà Vu exotic dancer Bree says the reaction has been crazy.
No kidding.
“Everybody’s taking pictures and running up and screaming and trying to get on the bus and throwing dollars outside. It’s actually very exciting,” she said.
The “Stripper Mobile” was originally driven in Las Vegas until local leaders there put the brakes on the vehicle last November.
Next stop: Tampa, often called the lap dance capital of the world. But the bus only operates in between the hours 10 P.M. and 2 A.M.
