Tampa Escorts: Armrest was mistaken for sex organ in mural, artist says

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Under the new law, murals presently being painted â there is at least one in town â would be allowed. Other than that, no more murals can be painted in the downtown historic district unless the property owner can prove that there was a mural on the building before the city established the district in 1994.
On Tuesday, Edward Haynes, the owner of Hannas Antiques, who paid for the offending mural, was aggravated by the turmoil created by what he called an artists mistake.
“If I thought there was anything indecent or immoral in the mural I would have painted over it myself,” Haynes said. “I didn’t notice anything wrong and the artist painted over the part thought to be indecent without an argument. If the city was so interested in the moral character of the city why don’t they do something about the prostitutes soliciting on the city streets, or the bums sleeping in vacant lots at night? I’m all for decency. I have a family too. But let’s not get so upset and misplace our energy when it is needed elsewhere.”

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

On Sunday, the club swings open its doors between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to the dog-loving public and their pooches with demonstrations in obedience, agility and canine freestyle.
Dunedin Doggie Rescue and several breed rescue groups will be in attendance with adoptable dogs on site. The club will offer a 50 percent discount on the first set of classes for any application submitted that day resulting in a completed adoption.
Fundraising efforts will include a large selection of raffle items, $2 hot dogs and $5 nail trims; proceeds will benefit the participating rescue groups.
Take part in a “doggie trick or treat,” doggie games or by entering the canine costume contest.
“We’ve had some great costumes in the past,” Modder said. “There was a really neat astronaut with a helmet, a chihuahua dressed as a burro, and a pit bull as a pimp.”

Benton won’t coach baseball team at Spoto
Larry Benton will not return for a fourth season as Spoto’s baseball coach, Principal Clyde Trathowen confirmed Wednesday.
Benton was hired to start the Spartans program, which began play in 2007.
He enjoyed his best season in 2009, when the Spartans posted their first winning record in program history at 13-11.
However, Benton was arrested in June on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting another to commit prostitution.
He was suspended by the Hillsborough County School District shortly thereafter. Trathowen said Benton remains suspended from his teaching position without pay and is unsure when Benton’s case will be resolved, which ultimately prompted him to move in another direction in terms of the baseball program.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Deputies told burglary suspect to give up before she was shot

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

That was 35 years ago. Now, Blankenship, 70, doesn’t like to leave the house at night. In the past month, his lawn mower was stolen, a pressure washer disappeared from his gated front yard and Tuesday afternoon, a woman was shot in the stomach by deputies on his street.
It happened around 4:45 p.m., just as Blankenship and his wife were sitting down to a dinner of chicken neck bones with rice and corn. Pasco County sheriff’s deputies were searching his neighborhood for Mildred Christina Pace, a 33-year-old woman who has been arrested 36 times in the past 14 years. Her convictions are mostly for drugs, cocaine especially, but there are others — forgery, resisting arrest, shoplifting, prostitution, burglary, dealing in stolen property, habitually driving with a revoked license, grand theft. On Tuesday, she was a suspect in two burglaries, including one in which a semiautomatic .38-caliber chrome Derringer was stolen from the home of a Dade City couple while they were at work and church.

BROOKSVILLE – Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard has a reputation as a stomping ground for drug dealers and prostitutes, but on Sunday it was holy ground.
In the early afternoon a small crowd was gathered at Alabama Sam’s barbecue stand for free dinners and to sort through a stack of free clothing.
The barbecue cook, Sam Spears, is married to Rev. G.T. Spears, who is one of the pastors at Damascus Mission Faith Outreach Church in Ridge Manor. She shares church leadership duties with Rev. Robert Badger.
Two or three Sundays a year the church sponsors an outreach program where instead of holding service, they conduct “word and song” in front of Sam’s place of business and give out free barbecue and used clothing.

Tampa Adult Entertainment: Initial psychological responses to Influenza A, H1N1 ("Swine flu")

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

In data collected only in Europe, 64% greatly underestimated the mortality rates of seasonal flu, 26% believed seasonal flu vaccination gave protection against swine flu. 7% had reduced / stopped eating pork.
3% had purchased anti-viral drugs for use at home, while 32% intended to do so if the pandemic worsened.
Conclusions: Initial responses to Influenza A show large regional differences in anxiety, with Malaysians more anxious and more likely to reduce travel and to buy masks and food. Discussions with family and friends may reinforce existing anxiety levels.
Particular groups (homosexuals, prostitutes, the homeless) are perceived at greater risk, potentially leading to increased prejudice during a pandemic. Europeans underestimated mortality of seasonal flu, and require more information about the protection given by seasonal flu inoculation.

Tampa Strip Clubs: Columnist Sue Carlton has lunch with Kathleen Ford

Columnist Sue Carlton has lunch with Kathleen Ford
I live, work and vote in Tampa (town motto: Tell Us A Politician Is In Trouble, We’ll Name A Dozen Possible Candidates!) From this vantage point, you can look across the pond to St. Petersburg and think:
Seriously, you call that a nasty political campaign? You think that’s a real nut job you’ve got running for office? You call that a scandal? A judge accused of bank fraud involving a house he bought with a stripper, a county commissioner whose defense in a sexual harassment case is essentially that he was merely pimping out his employee — now those are scandals.
But the race to replace that really tall guy as St. Petersburg mayor caught my eye. Because, if I understand this correctly, voters will choose between:
