…the very delicious irony that will doubtless accompany any story about prostitutes enjoying increased business, gay bars and cruising spots hopping with closeted Republicans, and any arrests in sexual scandals – all taking place in the environment of an extremely sexually repressive culture.
… the highlighting of the wing-nuttiest of the right wing Republican officials in Utah, some of whose state legislators can only be described as at the farthest fringes of the right wing.
… all those smiling WHITE faces who will form the backdrop to a completely non-diverse Republican conventions in one of the least diverse states in the country. (At least Phoenix and Tampa are an improvement on this front.)

Although it has been a while since I read Stevensons novel, many of the key events are carried over here and seem to get an accurate portrayal: the meeting of a scheming Long John Silver, putting together a crew to sail the Hispaniola to Treasure Island, and the subsequent ship mutiny. Jim Hawkins naïve and overly trusting personality comes across well with nicely-written dialogue, and Long John Silver is as smooth talking as he is slightly sinister. The rest of the cast, including friend and potential love interest Antoinette (a new addition not in the original story), Dr Livesey and the prostitutes of Bristol, and of course a diverse band of pirates, vary in voice acting quality. They also generally seem a little on the one-dimensional side, lacking much in the way of distinctive personalities. Close-up facial expressions arent always realistic and the lip-synching rarely matches the spoken dialogue, either, which can make the characters come across more as props than real people. Even the animation is a little strange: when standing still people frequently change poses or perform hand gestures, but instead of making them more lifelike, it just seems forced and out of place.

The first reveal was Michael “Big Mike” Lynche, who skipped out on the birth of his first child to go to Hollywood, although there’s been a rumor circulating for the past few weeks that he’s already been disqualified because his father told reporters that his son had made the final 24 in violation of the “Idol” confidentiality agreement.

During his tenure as chief, Klein started a citizen police academy and a volunteer patrol program. He started a cable-access television show that brought him into the living rooms of Clearwater’s citizens once a month.
“I always tell my officers to be a part of, not apart from, the community. That’s my marching orders to them,” he said.
Klein was at the forefront of a national movement in community policing, which puts officers into neighborhoods to develop relationships with citizens.
“I can’t say enough about Sid Klein,” said Shelley Kuroghlian, president of the Clearwater Neighborhoods Coalition. “He was so responsive to the neighborhoods when he was chief, especially in the East Gateway area.”
The area has seen a reduction in prostitution, drug sales and loitering since Klein assigned extra officers to address the problems, she said.

Tampa, Florida – Two employees of a Tampa spa have been arrested, both accused of being unlicensed and one of them accused of offering sex for cash.
Investigators say 43-year-old Mee Yung Pak is charged with prostitution and performing illegal massage. Joo Soo Kim, 46, is also charged with performing massages without a license.
On January 24, Tampa Police raided The Gold Spa located on Westshore Blvd. South, also confiscating cash.
Kim and Pak have been released from the Hillsborough County Jail on bond.

… I guess an undercover cop was checking IDs at the door, acting like a bouncer.” Smith said. “When the cop took my ID from me, she looked at it for a minute, but then went straight to her car. The ID had my real name and information on it, so when she ran my name she found out the ID wasn’t real.”
Smith said she was immediately arrested and put into the cop car, along with her friend who had also used a fake ID.
“I was really nervous, but there wasn’t much I could do about it. The ride to the police station was so weird. First they took us to the local station,” Smith said.
Once there, the pair got inside a paddy wagon that held people who were arrested for different things: homeless arrests, prostitution and DUI’s.

James Moore, the former husband, said he dug a hole with a backhoe. He said Moore told him it was for concrete and trash. He said he left after digging the hole and that Moore called him back in an hour or two to fill it. He said he never saw a body in the hole, but that it was dark.
